Have you ever seen such a good sale on something that you thought "how could I not buy it...it's too good a deal NOT to" ?
That's the way I felt about this moment I somehow managed to capture on camera.
There was so much joy in this woman and in the scene...it s too good NOT to paint.
I had to. Such joy is beauty.

Only days away from arriving home from our trip to South Africa, I find myself with paintings drifting thru my brain from all I saw. So you ll have to excuse me as I take time to sort them all out and get a few on paper/canvas. In the meantime, here's a little h2o-aided (watercolor) sketch done while driving in the backseat of a bus going down a bumpy dirt road on our way from Hodge Podge Lodge to a nearby park to safari. It seems like where I return to in understanding somewhere new,... trees.
